2017 pantone color of the year is "greenery." a beautiful yellow leaning fresh light green. it makes me want to eat bowls of fresh cut grass. below is a brief video from pantone themselves, celebrating their bold new world. below are some polishes that match this new fashion direction. enjoy. "tilda" from zoya 2014 summmer "tickled" collection it is predicted that this long time favorite from zoya will be the toast of the new year. here is butterlondon's limited edition line of pantone colors, including "greenery." compared to "tilda" its a bit more muted, but very similar. "wet my thistle" sally hansen miracle gel here also a similar green to pick up. its a little paler and dustier but close to "tilda" in spirit. i prefer zoya polishes: they are the same price and are cruelty free and 5-free or better. "refresh" l.a. colors gel extreme shine love this grassy neon green. it is both near the "greenery" idea and completely unique in my collection. "honeydew" fresh paint this polish is far paler, stays in the grassy shades withour leaning too mint or lime. finally, below is my favorite moment of the week from classic films. rita hayworth in thw 1946 movie "gilda." this guitar song was so surprising and so haunting.

over the holiday, i traveled with family to spain. we spent time in madrid and northern spain, in a town called san sebastian. these are the polishes that i picked up! "white russian" nyx i had no idea that nyx cosmetics offered nail polish. my mom and i found a small storefront in a retail area of madrid that was just nyx products. the polish selection was limited, but the shades were very much on trend. i was immediately drawn to this color: not the best formula i have tried, but the finished look is so nice, i've already worn it twice now! "olive twist" h&m we stopped into h&m stores quite a bit because my parents' luggage was briefly lost. while they shopped for a change of clothes, i found this sought after polish. this was recommended by youtuber RitaBeautyx. She is such a Canadian cutie! i had not seen this polish where i live in the u.s., so i was tickled to find it in spain. i should've looked for "space race" as well, but i was blinded by my olive find. this polish makes me want a dirty martini 🍸 sumthun bad. "cherry clafoutis" astor quick & shine i've never heard of a clafoutis (a baked French dessert of fruit, traditionally black cherries, arranged in a buttered dish and covered with a thick flan-like batter), and I've never seen Astor cosmetics in the u.s. i think it is a french company, but this polish was made in spain (according to the label). the first language on the label is in german and their spokesperson is heidi klum, so maybe it's german? if you know, let me know! this formula for this brick red creme is absolutely the best. i wish that had bought more of these quick & shines. "#66 shade of happiness" essense, the gel nail polish i saw this shade on Instagram this summer and i have hunted for it ... that is when i realized that most of the essence shades are not readily available in the u.s. i found a cosmetics store and made a bee-line for all of the cremes that i cannot find. I should've bought the display, but i attempted to show some restraint. this color is like an orange popcicle and the formula is the very best ever! "#83 pretty cool life" essense the gel nail polish this polish was picked out by my dear hubs (i love it when he gets involved). such a great grayed out green creme. Another great formula. "blue garou" bourjois la laque gel i bought 3 total bourjois polishes, 2 of la laque and 1 of the one-second gel texture. all of these had really terrific formulas. this was a very deep navy blue ... so dark it appears black in most lighting. i had previously registered my dislike of such dark cremes, but like trump i need to walk -back that statement. this blue is so nice and formula is easy to work with. "yeux revol'vert" bourjois, la laque gel dont ask me what the name of this polish means. btdubs google is no help. this deep deep deep forest green is everything (as the kids say). "blue de nime" bourjois, 1 second gel this dusty royal creme proports to be 1 coat with a 1 second drying time. the second half may be a fiction, but i did find one-coat to be adequate. again, i wish that i had purchased more of these! Great formula. "noir rouge" catrice cosmetics, noir lacquer this deep rouge creme is *almost* completely opaque in one coat. I really like it, even if I do have dupes in my collection (see "mirror mirror" by sinful shine below). the above polish is a little more jelly than "noir rouge" but it is very similar. usually i would analyze which polish is better and destash the other ... but i like them both 😊💕 "b52" alissa
this tiny bottle of polish packs a punch. the first coat is streaky and shit, but the second one builds really nice to a deep milk chocolate brown. this was only 2 € but it is the size of a sample polish. so spain is full of polishes with great formulas! again, i wish i had purchased more. |
