here is my latest search to find the best versions on my favorite creme polishes. welcome to "battle of the basics" white edition! click here for my previous "battle of the blacks." white nails are the best ever. i love a good white creme on the fingers and the toes. it ushers in spring, it looks terrific with a tan, and it can be both edgy and classy at the same time. i have purchased a lot of stark white and dingy white opaque cremes in my time. some are better than others. in this battle, i focus on stark, white, opaque creme nail polishes. i have 7 total polishes to show you today. round one! "alpine snow" by opi (mini): from opi's core collection, their go-to solid white. "WISP" by sinful colors sinful shine: from the gel tech line, and one the first polishes in my collection. "angel with a leadfoot" by opi: from the mustang collection a few years ago. "white orchid" by juieg nail color: from the julieg core line. disclaimer: again, i do not have all of the white polishes available. these are the merely the ones i personally own. just like before, simply nailogical has conducted a video search for her favorite white opaque creme. see below for her results. round one winner! "mrs. tony montana" by floss gloss: an indie with a lot of buzz. "showered by petals" by opi: from the 2016 hello kitty collection. "hop in my invisible jet!" by orly color blast: from the 2016 wonder woman collection.
round two winner: "mrs. tony montana" by floss gloss finally, the top pick! "mrs. tony montana" is certainly the most opaque out of the bunch. it is my top opaque white creme! So good. "mrs. m" beat out 1st round winner, "white orchid," for being more smooth, a little more thick, (without being chalky or gloopey), and practically opaque in one coat. i would wear "mrs. tony montana" for a stark white manicure or pedicure. round one winner, "white orchid," is perfect as a smooth white base or "undies:" for those times that i need a solid white base to go under neon polishes, or a glitter topper. so those are my results for best white (in my personal collection). here, as promised, is what simply nailogical has to say! what is your favorite white opaque nail polish? Do you have a solid, one-coat white creme in your collection? let me know in the comments! thanks for reading. coming soon: my top picks for spring and "battle of the basics" classic red addition!

the drinking holidays have never been my thing, but as a girl named Erin, its hard to not recognize Saint Patrick's Day as the powerhouse of drunken consumerism that it is! "cursed" by blackheart beauty, available at hot topic stores "liquid vinyl" by orly, from the 2012 collection "black sheep" by julieg nail color disclaimer: please note, the above polishes are not considered the absolute best black cremes on the market. these are the merely the ones i personally own. many collectors and youtubers have spoken highly about "willa" by zoya, "absence" by pretty serious, and "memento mori" by cirque. see below for a link to simply nailogical's video on her search for the best black creme.

so this is a pretty good quick dry top coat and available anywhere you find sinful colors. it is a bit more expensive than a typical sc polish, at $3.99. like the essence base coat, i take this with me bc i can replace it if i need to. that said, this top coat is actually pretty good! thanks for reading! what do you like to travel with? or do you invest in a gel manicure before you go out of town? for my fav nail care items including top and base coats, check out my last post: favorite nail care for spring. coming soon: "basics to the test" i test my collection of blacks, whites, classic reds and blues for which has the best formulas; and "top picks for spring" my favorites for spring 2017. awaken to spring! i am ready for sandals and dresses without tights and getting out all of my sunglasses! here are my favorite nail care items of the moment to get me to an exciting outdoor season! Nail butter in past nail care blogs, i have raved about nail butter. i put it on every other night before bed. before this treatment, my cuticles were very rough and the sides of my fingers were hard and dry all of the time. this has really softened everything up. its a bit pricy, but worth the dough. formula x: the system trio i dont know how readily available this is, but it has changed my life. if you spot it at sephora or tj maxx (i found it there for $4.50), then do not hesitate. i love step one: the cleanse. it removes all oils and preps the nails for base coats. it has really reduced bubbles on my nails which result from oils, etc. Nail tek II intensive therapy i think that the jury's still out on nail strengtheners. that said, i have used this product pre-base coat on my last few manicures and i have noticed a reduction in breakage. if you have weak and/or peeling nails, give it a try! jojoba oil lots of nail bloggers have recommended jojoba oil for nails, cuticle and hand care. i found some online on the cheap and have been filling an empty nail polish bottle. i use it on my toes everyday and on my fingers after every manicure. it keeps everything healthy and moisurized. i have even heard that it has some age-defying properties for the hands, but i have yet to see that. trim nail care sticks my favorite orange sticks are found at walmart for cheap cheap cheap. there are a ton in each packet and they are best for attacking the dry skin about my cuticles. far more gentle than metal cuticle pushers. nails inc kensington caviar 45 second dry top coat this is by far, my favorite quick dry top coat. $15 at sephora, it is one of those rare items at sephora that is actually worth the money. vitamins: calcium & biotin
vitamins are controversial when it comes to nail health and growth. some claim that they work great, others say they are a waste of $$. i think it is a benefit that varies from person to person. i have weak nails and am unable to grow significant length. i stopped taking calcium and i noticed a remarkable thinning of my nails that resulted in breakage. since taking daily calcium citrate and biotin, my nails are notibly stronger and healthier. please do your own research on suppliments. I take the above vitamins bc i have found that they work for me. I avoid calcium carbonate bc it is minerials mined from stone and not from a natural nutrient source. i'd love to hear your thoughts on this. what do you take? let me know your top picks for nail care! hope your spring is exciting and renewing. next blog: whats in my travel manicure kit? |
