september favs! if you've just joined me, i spent the month in swinging london: i wore all of my previously unworn butter LONDON polishes and found some truly awesome gems! the results? 2 to de-stash, 5 must-favs and 18 total polishes! because i mostly purchased these polishes at sales or discount stores, these bLs are the older 3-free formula (not the new 8-free polishes released now). i bought one or two online, from ulta stores during a 1/2 off sale, and many from marshalls and tj maxx. Whether buying them for full price, online, or on sale, butter LONDONs are always cruelty free 😇! first, a bonus polish! "trallop" (below) photo (above) from http://psychosexy33.blogspot.fr/2014/03/vernis-butter-london-collection-boho.html?m=1 "trallop" creme nude: very close to "mannequin hands" for me. i picked up this delightful nude creme half-way through my #monthofbutterLONDON. a one-coater (if you apply thicker coats). almost everything that I want in a nude! now for the de-stashes 😓 😫"fruit machine" (left) this pink swatch photo is the result of way too much hassle. the formula was way too fussy. love the barbie-color; hate the barbie-makes-me-feel-inadequate feels it gives me. 😭"mollycoddled" (right) needs to go, despite a beautiful color. the formula was difficult to apply and i am too old to fight with polishes! ... and now for the favs! 😍 1st, the honorable mentions ... now ... the top 5 favs! 'chimney sweep" this charcoal metallic is really special for both its color and it's application. brush strokes were hardly detectable and the color, a true charcoal (rather than a dark grey, almost black.) unique & striking. "muggins" purplish light grey creme i have worn this polish twice this month! I love this look for fall. it's like slipping into a light-weight sweater that is at once cozy and sexy! definitely a must-fav! "pillar box red" this really easy to wear (and to apply) red cremes is cruelty-free and fierce. a sexy staple to add to your collection. the nudes: "high tea" and "trallop" I've long coveted the bL nudes and I have found the two that match my skin tone the best and have terrific-to-work-with formulas.. "high tea" leans more yellow, while "trallop" leans a little more red. ❤️ them both. and my number one must-fav ... ❤️september must-fav❤️
"british racing green" this rich hunter green creme with gold & green shimmer is the polish that was promised. it resides on the iron throne of my heart as my hands-down (get it 😉) fav butterlondon and fav for september. so sleek and rich; look how "classic car" my fingers are! 💚💚💚 thanks for reading! what are your fav butter LONDON polishes? what are your fav brands?

i completed my mission to wear all of the butterLONDON polishes my collection!! i'd like to thank the creators of gilmore girls for providing me with seven total seasons to binge whilst i obsessed over my cuticles and worried about square vs sqoval nail shape! it's been a fun month! "chimney sweep" charcoal metallic 😍 i tend to reach for creme finish polishes, but i am really glad to have picked up this almost black metallic. brush strokes are usually a problem with metallics, but this did NOT have that problem! it applied like a dream and its rare to find a charcoal that does read either totally black or grey. also, this is a one-coater! yeah, i am thoroughly impressed. chim-chimney, chim-chim charoo! "gobsmacked" micro glitter topper (over "chimney sweep") again, not a glitter ✨ girl, but this was gorgeous! expanding my horizons! this is the perfect look for a night out or a really fancy out patient procedure. vampy and fancy. i AM gobsmacked 😶! "blagger" or smooth criminal: a one-coat blue creme easy application and a great shade of blue. blagger is terrific and a nice basic cobalt! after struggling with "mollycoddled" on my toes, this was a blue cremey dream come true. true blue, like my hubs fav madonna album! (pappa don't preach, bitches) "toff" is a beloved polish in the butter LONDON universe. interesting shade: photographs like a dark dusty rose, 🌹 but in natural light looks like a dusty warm purple, and in indoor lighting it looks like a greyish purply brown. great application. i put off trying this bc the color in the bottle looked like raspberry baby 👶 poop, but on the nail, the look was neutral but interesting and i did not have such a visceral reaction. definitely an autumn staple! "pillar box red" (British mail box) classic red creme (pillar box image below) this red is beautiful and applied so easy! a one-coat & ✅, i did two just cuz I'm anal. i have a small collection of awesome classic red cremes: opi "coca-cola red," opi "big head day," sinful shine "devious," sinful colors "gogi girl," zoya "hannah." all of these polishes have amazing formulas, but this is a polish i have wanted for a really long time. I had never seen butter LONDON in stores, but i found an image of this polish online about 4 years ago and knew that i must have it, if only for the unique packaging! even tho i do not lack for good formula red cremes in my collection, i am really happy to finally have my precious. 💋 this is a great place to remind us all that butter LONDON polishes are cruelty-free😇. while opi and sinful colors/shine 👿 have some great classic red cremes, I recommend tracking down "pillar box red" or "hannah" by zoya 😇 bc needless animal testing makes baby jesus cry! "lady muck" grey with silver shimmer this is a great 👍🏽 formula, but I don't know if the color looks good with my skin tone. i'll try it again and reaccess! "lady muck" means entitled woman and i am "lady muck" all of the way: I've yelled at many a waiter in my time. there are many okc restaurants i can't go into anymore. tragedy? not really. sleeve tattoos do not replace customer service, if you know what i mean. "lady muck" in the worst way! here is me at a recent humane society fundraiser. if you look 👀 closely, the tiny rescue puppy i am holding is thoroughly impressed with my ensemble which includes "lady muck" on my fingers!
i will publish my favs for this month soon and a bonus bL polish I picked up recently: "trallop." have a fantastic week and thanks for reading! 💚💚💚 this week, i had out of town guests and 3 major events at work. but ain't anythang gonna stop me from my continued campaign during this, my #monthofbutterLONDON. I am pleased (mostly) with the polishes this week and bursting to share! "sprog" or newbie 😇 similar to "artful dodger" from last week, this grayish periwinkle looks like denium on the nail. a good neutral for fall with a good formula. i prefer "artful dodger." "fruit machine" means slot machine in brit speak i gave this polish another chance: I have already worn this on my toes and was disappointed with the formula. I thought it might be easier to apply on the fingers: i was wrong. pretty Barbie-style pink, but the formula is not worth fighting with. this polish suffers from the same sad formula as "mollycoddled." at this price-point, a difficult formula is hard to tolerate. "keks" (pants) over "high tea" inspired by @misspopnails posts of her designs for nails at NYFW, specifically Jeremy Scott's street fashion, pop-tactic runway show, i ventured into the "nail art" lane, if only ever so slightly. I dipped an earaser head into the "keks" and stamped a circle on each nail. Really liked both polishes. "high tea" looks better on the nail then it does in the bottle. "keks" is bold and seems like a one-coater! "bramble" is any rough (usually wild) tangled prickly shrub—specifically the blackberry bush
this polish says "3 free" on the bottle, but new polishes from the company proport to be 8-free. this dark purple is lovely and the formula is amazing! unlike opi or sally hansen paddle-style brushes, the butterLONDON bottles have very small round brushes. i actually prefer this for easy application near the cuticles and nail edges. in indoor lighting, this polish appears darker, not black, but really vampy purple. I love it! "does this polish make me look thinner?" update to my #monthofbutterlondon: week 2 and I have three more polishes to report 😇😇😇 I have 19 total in my bl collection, but I have determined that I will wear only 15-16 this month (I have worn four previously, don't think i'll repeat!) this is week I wore a dusty teal that I love, a pinky lilac that was a meh, and a really terrific staple neutral!! "artful dodger" a dusty grey teal 10 points to griffindor for identifying how this polish/color evokes the dickens character. i have been seeing some great greyish greens and teals around town. this comes close to the trend, but leans a bit darker. The formula was good and I liked the look for fall. the color is much more flattering than anticipated. one of my must-favs so far! chipped on day 3. "mollycoddled" a pink leaning lilac lavender to treat (someone) very indulgently or protectively. synonyms: spoil, indulge, overindulge, wait on hand and foot"his parents mollycoddle him" i wish this polish had spoiled me a bit! love the color, but the formula was difficult, despite my high hopes. it is a paler version of 👿 sinfulshine's "pragmatic" (below) which has an amazing formula. (So wish sinful colors/sinfulshine was cruelty-free!) for the butterlondon price point, I should not be running into any bad application. this reminds me of bl's "fruit machine" (below) also a beautiful color, but the formula made me so sad. "fruit machine" a little deeper than opi's "mod about you" but with a fussier formula. "tea with the queen" pinky brownish nude
this color is so classy and timeless. i had anticipated something boring, but I find it more intriguing than snooze fest. Th formula was a little thinner, but never streaky or runny. if your workplace or your own preferences lean conservative, i recommend this polish bunches. No chipping; just a bit of tip-wear after day 3. this is actually what we should be wearing to enjoy tea with the queen! as always, what are your favorite butterlondons? thanks for reading! looking through my collection, i accessed minor imbalances. butterlondon has been a haul-able brand for me this year and yet I find they are the polishes I reach for the least. the colors are classy and wearable and i find that i go out of my way to purchase butterlondon: so why aren't they my go-to? i created a project to wear all of the butterlondons in my collection and to review their strengths and weaknesses in a concentrated time period: thus september is my #monthofbutterlondon. 😇 from my research: butterlondons are cruelty free, but NOT 100% vegan, 3-free polishes, manufactured in england. they retail in the us for $15 for lacquers, $18 for gel shine. i bought all of mine on sale at tj maxx or ulta for $4.99-$7.50 each. some in my collection have been discontinued. september 1, 2016 "muggins" light lavender grey creme subtly pretty and more appealing than anticipated. a great neutral-ish grey tone. it chipped on day 3, but better wear than most butterlondons. easy to apply! i can see me slipping into this like a mohair sweater in the middle of winter. september 4, 2016 "british racing green" deep forest green creme with subtle emerald shimmer i have wanted this polish for years. i think it is discontinued, but I luckily found a bottle at my local tj maxx for the low low price of $4.99! it is beautiful and I even like the subtle shimmer. I have other deep greens: 👿 opi's "christmas gone plaid" and 😇 zoya's "hunter." I should swatch them together and see which has the best wear, etc. this chipped on day 3 as well. september 6, 2016 "cheeky chops" light mid-tone, yellow creme no matter what color the bottle represents, i think that all of my non-neon yellow polishes look the exact same on the nail: a light, but mid-tone mustard yellow. only sinful colors "unicorn" (a very pale dusty sunshine), and sinful colors original formula "pull over" (a dark mustard) are the exceptions to this rule. "cheeky chops" here appears to be the exact same shade as 👿 opi's "good grief," 😇 color club's "almost famous," 👿 sinfulshine's "banana appeal," and 😇 orly's "spark." this is nothing new. a pro for "cheeky chops:" (besides the 😇 of it all) the formula was not near as bad as i had seen reviewed. A con: it chipped it less than 12 hours. in in all of my identical yellow cremes, 😇 orly's "spark" has by far the worst formula, while 👿 sinfulshine's "banana appeal" is only slightly better than the pack. "cheeky chops" formula falls somewhere in the middle, but that is not enough to recommend it. i have heard great things about 😇 wet n wild's megalast "my butter half" which (according to my sources) has a great formula and is a dupe for all of those listed above. at $1.99, try that one first before sinking your cash into those others. 🤑 in order to finish this project i am gonna need to do my nails more! i've 19 total butterlondon lacquers (not counting top coats, base coats and treatments). let me know what you think of this project below: am i crazy? have you done something like this? what are your favorite butterlondon polishes? thanks for reading. 😘
