looking through my collection, i accessed minor imbalances. butterlondon has been a haul-able brand for me this year and yet I find they are the polishes I reach for the least. the colors are classy and wearable and i find that i go out of my way to purchase butterlondon: so why aren't they my go-to? i created a project to wear all of the butterlondons in my collection and to review their strengths and weaknesses in a concentrated time period: thus september is my #monthofbutterlondon. 😇 from my research: butterlondons are cruelty free, but NOT 100% vegan, 3-free polishes, manufactured in england. they retail in the us for $15 for lacquers, $18 for gel shine. i bought all of mine on sale at tj maxx or ulta for $4.99-$7.50 each. some in my collection have been discontinued. september 1, 2016 "muggins" light lavender grey creme subtly pretty and more appealing than anticipated. a great neutral-ish grey tone. it chipped on day 3, but better wear than most butterlondons. easy to apply! i can see me slipping into this like a mohair sweater in the middle of winter. september 4, 2016 "british racing green" deep forest green creme with subtle emerald shimmer i have wanted this polish for years. i think it is discontinued, but I luckily found a bottle at my local tj maxx for the low low price of $4.99! it is beautiful and I even like the subtle shimmer. I have other deep greens: 👿 opi's "christmas gone plaid" and 😇 zoya's "hunter." I should swatch them together and see which has the best wear, etc. this chipped on day 3 as well. september 6, 2016 "cheeky chops" light mid-tone, yellow creme no matter what color the bottle represents, i think that all of my non-neon yellow polishes look the exact same on the nail: a light, but mid-tone mustard yellow. only sinful colors "unicorn" (a very pale dusty sunshine), and sinful colors original formula "pull over" (a dark mustard) are the exceptions to this rule. "cheeky chops" here appears to be the exact same shade as 👿 opi's "good grief," 😇 color club's "almost famous," 👿 sinfulshine's "banana appeal," and 😇 orly's "spark." this is nothing new. a pro for "cheeky chops:" (besides the 😇 of it all) the formula was not near as bad as i had seen reviewed. A con: it chipped it less than 12 hours. in in all of my identical yellow cremes, 😇 orly's "spark" has by far the worst formula, while 👿 sinfulshine's "banana appeal" is only slightly better than the pack. "cheeky chops" formula falls somewhere in the middle, but that is not enough to recommend it. i have heard great things about 😇 wet n wild's megalast "my butter half" which (according to my sources) has a great formula and is a dupe for all of those listed above. at $1.99, try that one first before sinking your cash into those others. 🤑 in order to finish this project i am gonna need to do my nails more! i've 19 total butterlondon lacquers (not counting top coats, base coats and treatments). let me know what you think of this project below: am i crazy? have you done something like this? what are your favorite butterlondon polishes? thanks for reading. 😘
