another month has come and gone and i am wondering where the year went! (*said the rapidly aging weirdo) the weather here has hardly shown signs of cooler summer, so i am sweating my britches off trying to make wool tights and boots work in 85 degree sunshine. but, whilst my forehead glistens, my nails tell a different story: a story of fallen leaves, and turtlenecks. of warm cider and chilling gusts of wind. october was all about saturated blue & charcoal grey cremes, a cafe ole neutral, with some unique cream-filled candy coated polishes thrown in for good measure. as I dive deeper into my swatch bucket, i come face to face with my own unconscious preferences: grays, browns, nudes and taupes fill my heart. I thought I was more adventurous than classic, but brothers and sisters, the bucket hath spoken. "makeup to breakup" orly 😇 this polish is a sure fav which i have written about twice now, so i'll keep this brief: this polish photographs more navy than it appears in real life. it reads far more green and unique in most lighting. the formula is amazing and the dark color is more than striking. from orly's "infamous" holiday 2015 collection. "small + cute = 💙" 👿 opi i wish this fab light pinky coral creme was cruelty free! it is easy to wear and easy on the eyes. from opi's january 2016 "hello kitty" collection. dupe alert? let me know! "style cartel" 👿 essie like "makeup to breakup" I have raved about this stunner of a navy blue polish already. i really like this color because it is dark enough to make an impact, but blue enough to not be mistaken for black. also, the shine ... oh, the shine. wish it were cruelty-free! from essie's fall 2014 "dress to kilt" collection. "genevieve" 😇 zoya this charcoal-but-appears-chrome-on-the-nail creme is a revelation! the formula & color is amaze-balls and the wear on this polish is extraordinary. i know that wear time (or chip-resistance) has more to do with one's individual body chemistry than with polish quality, but ... damn if zoya doesn't have the formula that is the longest lasting ... for me at least. going on vacay, you better believe i am packing only zoya! from zoya' s fall 2014 "entice" collection. "stilleto" julie g 😇 neutral shimmer is newly defined in this classy creme. goes on like butter, and looks equally yummy on the nail. just like a really inspiring snl political sketch, this polish is clarity within chaos. from jesse's girl julie g core collection. "harmonious mess" orly 😇❤️️ this polish was my MUST FAV from my last nail log. this polish does not look all that unique in the bottle, (or in the above photo), but the color is really striking on the nail! it's a pale greyish periwinkle opaque creme that is practically one-coat. this is my fav for october because the formula is good and the color is at once a classy neutral and also fashion forward. ahead of its time: from orly's summer 2013 "mash up" collection. october! as always, please tell me your favs for this month! are you wearing red or winey burgundies? are you wearing traditional fall dark colors? or are you flaunting seasonal norms and donning whites and neons? let me know! thanks for reading.
