haul from new york city: i didnt spend too much time in nyc, but i did hit one of my favorite beauty retailers: ricky's nyc. once, my go-to for manic panic hot pink hair dye ... now my siren call for great nail polish brands. i was on a mission for floss gloss and any other brands i do not easily find at home. i was hoping to find "night palm," "int'l hot girl," or "el capitan," but sadly, these polishes were not there. i did find some shades i had long wished for and some interesting Nails Inc. "biscuits" floss gloss a yellow leaning very pale nude creme ... these biscuits are on fire! "party bruise" floss gloss love this deep reddish brown creme. "moon baby" floss gloss this very pale teal creme has been on my list for years. such a great formula as well! "prince arthurroad" nails inc. nail pure.
it seems like the nail world has flashed the middle finger at nailsinc for the disastorous spray can nail color that flooded youtube about a year ago. hated is the kindest thing said: but it made for great streaming ... and hey, someone needs to try something new, polish-delivery-wise. i still love them and i was intrigued by the 2016 launch of nailpure: safe and breathable formulas. i was fished in by the color, and the good formula is the perfect bonus.

i was working on a haul and review post this week ... but it was full of polishes that did not work for me. *sad* instead of exiting summer on such a crap note, i thought i would post all of my manicures from august. this month boasted some really great polishes. and even the ones that weren't stellar, were still fun and worth trying out! "dutch tullips" opi i started the month with something a classic and classy. opi is the master of red cremes. i have destashed most all other reds in my collection, holding onto only the opis. this fushia leaning red is no exception. "timber" l.a. colors color craze for $1 this is quite a nice polish. decent application, but the staying power is a little lacking. as i said in my "dupes" blog earlier this month, i recommend this if you are looking to get your feet wet in a deep green creme. if you already know that you will wear this color, invest in zoya's "hunter" or butterlondon's "british racing green" if you can track it down! no name polishes first of all, sorry for the awful pic: someone needed some cuticle oil that day! in august i mixed two original polishes (i used polish i had on hand ... no special lacquer mixes or pigments). i created pastel colors that were pleasing, but the formulas were tough to work with ... i have lot to learn about lacquer vehicles, etc. a bit of fun only ... i have no intention of starting an indie brand: there is so much materials and equipment to invest in! "spacerace" h&m i found three of these this spring at my local h&m and i am so glad that i snagged a bottle. great coverage and a great overall look from the holographic finish. for a gal who has pledged loyalty to house "creme," this was a nice and rare departure for me. i highly recommend this polish. "lapis lazuli" h&m blue blue blue -yah! this pigment is terrific and the formula is a amazing. i have a lot of really great blue cremes. this is in the top three. make it happen for you. desert island polishes? definitely. "baby cakes" jesse's girl high intensity nail color this is 2-3 coats over a white base coat. it took me longer than usual to get this bitch right. i would be disappointed ... but look at that pigment! so pretty. so girly. if you are stickler for formula, stay away. if you like a hot pink ... a thousand times "yas!" "pacific blue" sally hansen x-treme wear this is the original formula (the fat "x"). i swatched it for my original sally hansen blog post last week. i was so excited to apply it again ... and I did not want to waste it (i only got one bottle, bitches), so i did my other hand and went on my way. lovely ... so i glad that i found it this past spring (brag). "pastel lavender matte" blackheart beauty (hot topic stores) this polish was so thick when I opened it for the first time. i had to really apply the lacquer thinner just to make the application tolerable. the result: one-coat and delicious. i like my base and top coats, so i used orly's matte top coat. this was long lasting and exceptional. must-have. "leather skinnies" revoln leather cuir i've had this textured grey polish for years now. it is my go-to one-coat on-the-run out-the-door polish. still amazing. still in my heart. look at it! experience the power. "yolo yellow" sinful colors
this is distinctive in that it is a very good formula ... for a yellow creme. my bottle was very thick; again, used lacquer thinner to make it tolerable. i really liked this formula after i worked it a bit. nothing special about the shade, but now i can thin-out my yellow collection to make way for this one. what have you been wearing? do you have a favorite from august? let me know at @shakespeare_okc |
